Come see for yourself why Oregon Zoo is the #1 paid attraction in the whole state. With hundreds of species, thousands of animals and millions of visitors, the zoo inspires guests to take action on behalf of wildlife. Whether strolling the gardens, taking in a keeper talk, or enrolling for lifelong-learning classes or Encounter Tours, you will find dynamic ways to connect with wildlife and nature.
The best deal in town is to sign up for a zoo membership – members roam the zoo for free all year, and receive discounts on summer camp and other classes, and even get early access to buy tickets to the zoo’s famous summer concert series. You haven’t really lived in Portland until you’ve been to a concert at the zoo!
Portland is definitely happening now, but our fair city was put on the map back in the 1960s, when Packy the elephant was born. Packy was the first Asian elephant to be born in North America in more than 44 years, and this community – and the whole world – went elephant-crazy. Since then, Oregon Zoo has been a leader in elephant science and welfare. Much of what is known about Asian elephants was learned right here! You can visit Packy and the rest of his pachyderm family at the zoo’s newly-expanded Elephant Lands habitat – one of the best elephant exhibits in the world.
