The Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) develops creative and practical solutions to enhance Portland’s livability, preserve distinctive places and plan for a resilient future.
The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is your resource for thoughtful consumption, recycling, composting and garbage information. The City of Portland has a goal to reduce waste and to raise the recycling rate to 75 percent by 2015. Portlanders can help reach these goals by finding resources and staying informed to make the best choices at work and at home.
Residential Curbside Collection Service includes weekly composting and recycling and every other week garbage collection for residents living in a single family home, duplex, triplex or fourplex. There are many service options to fit your household’s needs. Landlords are required to provide garbage and recycling service.
